Policies and Procedures
Here you will find Policies and Procedures for our First Baptist Church Preschool Program.
Enrollment Policies and Procedures

Registration will open in early March to church members and FBC Preschool staff children first, Then for students currently enrolled, and finally for the general public. Preschool teachers and new church staff members will have the privilege of enrolling their child in a class regardless of size.

All children must reach the class age by September 1. Special exceptions may be considered by the director at the request of the parent. An immunization record must be submitted prior to the first day of school. All children must be toilet trained with the exception of our two year old class.

Preschool enrollment applications can be obtained from the preschool office during the preschool hours on the designated day of enrollment. The enrollment schedule will be advertised in the Jackson Herald and the Church Pathfinder at least two weeks prior to enrollment.

An application is considered complete when turned in to the Preschool office with a registration fee. This is done on a first come, first serve basis. The fee is non-refundable. The only exception is if the child moves out of town and notifies the Preschool office before July 1. If space is not available parents may choose to put the child on a waiting list without having to render a registration fee until notified by the Preschool that a space is available.

Tuition and Late Fees

Checks should be made payable to FBC Preschool and turned into the preschool office by the 10th of each month in the envelope provided. A late fee of $5.00 will be assessed for payments received after the 10th. There will be a $20.00 fee charged on all returned checks. Checks or money orders are preferred.

Tuition fees are set by the First Baptist Church Preschool Committee and reviewed annually at budget planning time.

5 Day Classes               $ 155.00
3 Day Classes               $ 130.00
2 Day Classes               $ 110.00

Hours of Operation

Hours for preschool are 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There will be a drop-off available for parents from 7:45 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. A preschool staff member will be happy to help your child out of the car and into the building during this time. If parents choose to walk children into the building, THEY MUST PARK IN THE GRAVEL AREA OR THE UPPER PARKING LOT. DO NOT PULL UNDER THE BREEZEWAY AND GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE. THIS AREA IS FOR UNLOADING CHILDREN WHO ARE DROPPED OFF. DO NOT PARK IN THE LOWER LOT. This area is reserved for handicapped and church personnel. It is also parking for church functions held during the day.

Early Morning Drop Off

If your schedule requires delivery of your child before 8:00 a.m., an early drop off will be provided for your convenience. Early drop off will begin at 7:45 a.m. Children will be seated in the back with a staff member to view a movie until 8:20 a.m. They will be sent to their rooms at that time.

Late Pick Up

Parents may pick up a child from their classroom beginning at 11:30 a.m. PARENTS MUST PARK IN THE GRAVEL PARKING LOT OR THE UPPER PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET. If a child has not been picked up by 11:45, he/she will be seated outside the director's office until the parent arrives. After 11:45 a.m. children who have not been picked up will be charged a $10.00 late fee. Teachers need the time at the end of the day to prepare for the next school day. The teacher's day ends at 12:00 p.m. and teachers go home.

Dismissal Permission

If someone else, other than a parent, will be picking your child up A NOTE MUST BE SENT IN ADVANCE! The person picking up the child must present their driver's license and student security card. Each child will be given 3 security cards at open house at the beginning of the year.

Health

We try to go outside everyday, if your child is too sick to play outside, he/she is too sick to be at school. Please notify the teacher when your child develops a highly communicable disease (i.e. chicken pox). A child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Field Trips

A written permission slip is required for each individual child and will be completed at the beginning of the school year and will cover any of the field trips taken during the school year.

Messages, Concerns and Conferences

Please feel free to call the teacher if you have a concern or if your child has a problem of any kind. Your child is our most important concern and we want to build trust and confidence. You can feel free to call a teacher at home, or leave a message at the school number. The teacher will return your call after school hours.

 General Information

What To Wear To School: Please dress your child in play clothes. Wear shoes that are safe for running, jumping and climbing - NO FLIP FLOPS! Please encourage children to leave rings, bracelets, money and small toys at home. All children need to bring a weather appropriate change of clothes in a large zip lock bag with his/her name on it and give to the teacher

Birthdays: Birthday Parties may be held during "snack time" by making arrangements with the teacher in advance. We recommend fruit juice and cookies, cupcakes, or ice cream cups. Parents may attend or send the refreshments with the child. If a parent wants to use the playground or Fellowship Hall after school hours for a private birthday party they must check with the Church Secretary for availability, scheduling and any fees that may apply. The party must be scheduled after 12:00 p.m.

Snacks: We ask the parents to provide our snacks each day and to help with special seasonal celebrations as they arise. This enables the children to experience a variety of snack foods. The children also enjoy choosing and helping to prepare the snack. Your child will be "snack helper" at school the days that you provide the snack for the class. Some snack suggestions: fruit juice, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, peanut butter and crackers, cheese or jello snacks.

Newsletter: A newsletter will be sent home at the end of the month for the upcoming month. This keeps the parents informed about our activities. Parents will receive a classroom calendar at the beginning of each month from their child's teacher to keep parents informed of their child's snack day, special parties, class activities, fieldtrips and units of study. If you have books or information that follows the units of study and would like to share with the class, please feel free to do so.
